Great Pennsylvania Squirrel Hunt
« on: December 03, 2008, 11:43:00 AM »
Once again we will gather, and venture forth after the elusive Pennsylvania squirrel; 7:00AM at picnic area #9.  No charge of course, just bring your traditional bows and arrows and your favorite non-alcoholic beverage.  We will have grilled hot dogs and pot luck for lunch and do much telling of stories.  Seven day, non-resident small game licenses are available through the website at a cost of $31.00.   http://www.pgc.state.pa.us.

You can PM or email me for directions and other information.

Kicked it back to a single day, eh, George?  :)

Maybe I could get the preacher and his 2 hunters out of the triplets to make the run out from SC... Shorter for me to just roll W. from Lewistown on the way up I think...or to 76 over and up.

Sure depends on soooo many things in today's world that I'm surviving in...but as always, my heart will be with you guys!

Sarah, you're missing a good one here... last I was there was more shennaigans that you could shake a stick at! And COLD?

You got some of the group pics, George to post?

Doc, if you want to come up Friday you're welcome to stay at my place.  We can get an early start on the critters.   Since we started hosting it in January, we rarely see any snow.

They are going to make sure the electricity is on for us at the pavillion this year so we can plug in the crock pots early 8^).  UMMMMMMMMMM.
Would love to have you Ken.  If you have a group, Shawnee has a bungalow they rent out by the night I believe.  Doc Nock and his group of rough necks stayed there a few years back 8^).  It isn't at all expensive if enough join in.  And if anyone wants to come in Friday I can meet up with you and we can do some early shootin'.

We are three hours from Wellsboro.  It's all 4 lane to Bedford from Jersey Shore, Pa.  Rt. 220, 80, and 99.

Thanks, George, for the invite. All depends on work, $$$ and health!  :)  But I have it penciled in! I'll keep in touch.

Yup... Ranger58 made the original arrangements to rent the big ole farmhouse...it's a cozy set up. We had a bunch of guys and their kids... Big kitchen...folks sitting up half the night making flu-flus...yammerin... and all sorts of food and fun!

Ole George had some sort of gnarly concoction cookin on the crockpot and a grill at the pavillion...we had about 90 feet of snow and 50 below temps..(well almost).  Froze the fuel in Ranger's big diesel for sure!

What trips are made of: memories! I thought you might have some pics of that year with snow piled on our heads as we "stump shot" our way over the whitening landscape. I can't get into my old photobucket account. Snakeater had the best ones he posted!

Tried a search to pull up that thread where all those pics were posted...but it seems to be gone.

That was a number of years ago, huh, George!?!

Doc,  I didn't want to scare anyone off....those were the February shoots 8^).  The first one was where I had to follow Eric Will through the woods and walk in his foot prints.     :saywhat:
That might be why Eric moved to Oklahoma.  Since we went to early January the snow has stayed away or just dusted us.
