« on: December 06, 2008, 05:06:00 AM »
Just curious as its not a make Ive heard much of, and seems to be one of the most expensive bows out there. How do they compare to other makes?

Of course pictures are always welcome  :D

I havent shot the Vyperkahn.....But I did have the pleasure of shooting my friends Deathadder and I fell in love with it!!!!!!!!!!!! They for some reason are not taking orders on them, so it might be worth your while to call habu and see what models they are making.

My buddy Chimaster has one.  He has gone thru a LOT of bows and I am pretty sure this will be the last one he ever buys.  I can't shoot it because it is a lefty, but I do know it is fast and I have never seen him miss a thing with it.

I've been shooting Habus since 99.He's only making the Vyperkahn.I just received Chris's latest Triple carbon longbow Vyperkahn. For the 2 weeks I;ve owned it I can honestly say it is the finest bow I've owned to date.I've had Blcktails,Silvertips,Dyes,Zippers,Wes Wallace,Widows,Cascades,Pronghorns,Robertsons,Wapiti, and some I can't remember and have shot many others. Not saying there is anything bad about the others.Just the Habu fits my shooting style and the workmanship is second to none.
Also,I was on Chris's very long waiting list so if you are thinking of one you better have a bow to shoot till yours is finished.

They certainly got the cool factor. SteveO thats a great buck!

Overbo, whats the difference between the double carbon and triple carbon?

I wonder how they compare speed wise to ACS's and Morrion foam cores etc?

I think I gotta get a bow fund going...too many and too little time!

Chris told me that w/ the triple carbon he is gaining about 10fps over his double. As for speed,Chris thought 190fps w/ 9gpp should be obtainable w/ my 60lbs @ 27'' draw.Don't know about the Morrison or ACS.
Chris dosen't use any glass in his limbs, makes them lighter but still uses wood veneers over the carbon.Very innavative design.

I've got one. A 62" Bocote with Hycurve limbs(had a 60" Cocobola until recently but the fellow I got it from really missed it lol). The speed is decent, very stable, with a little work they can be fairly quiet. Real good mass weight and grip. Finish work on the riser I would rate a B though guys keep saying it is outstanding the ones I've had weren't. The woods he chooses are gorgeous, some of the best I've seen. A very good bow, now a $1750 bow, well only the buyer can decide if they're worth that to them.

I've owned a Habu Take-Down, Death Adder and 3 VyperKahns.  I currently have a Double Carbon model.  It's a great shooter.  I just got a new Morrision Cheyenne and I also own a Blacktail Elite VL takedown.

I don't know that I'd say the Habu is that much better than the others to justify the cost.  Don't get me wrong, I love Habu bows.  I wish I had the Take Down back, but the cost just keeps going up for 10 FPS.

Maybe I'm wrong, but couldn't you gain that by dropping 50 grains or so of arrow weight?

WOW!!  That's a LOT of coin for a bow.  Heck that's a lof of coin for anything except a vehicle.

I had a VyperKahn a couple of years back. A nice bow but I didn't think the finish work was as good as that on my top of the line Fedora.

Well since he only sells the Ikahns right now until he gets the stock bows up and running for $1300 each, you're looking at some coin either way. I have a riser with glue line issues that had to be repaired and his bows scratch real easy in my experience thus far. I also have a Habu Take-down that has a dime size white spot in the finish since he made it and speckles of various sizes.

Wow, $1,750, $30 for a single broadhead, etc...

I'm pretty sure I can still kill a deer with equipment that's more moderately priced..

But if you have the money I'm sure they're nice!

Hey Guys,

I've shot Chris's bows since the early 90's when I hunted with Rodger Rothhaar in Canada. I have owned many of his bows and each new model was always better then the last. I have never had any problems with the finish as Chris developed the paint from his work with aircraft paints. I can say that the vyperkahn is the finest bow I've ever had. I have the double carbon and its very fast. It doesn't suprize that
chris has come up with something new in the triple carbon. He is always looking to improve. The bow is worth every penny. It just about shoots it's self. I'll be shooting this one until I'am dribbling my oatmeal.
