Bill are you shooting the hycurve limbs or the longbow limbs?  By the way that is a nice whitetail in your pic.  Did you get him in Michigan?

Jon--he got that buck with me in Iowa.  He's got the hybrid limbs, which is a story in itself.  And I am answering because unless I tell him to get in here and answer something; he'll never see your question!!!

By the photo and the limbs being carbon one-eye's limbs must be the longbow.I've finally got this triple longbow well tuned and man this thing is extremely quiet.Shooting a 515gr arrow from a 60lbs bow.
Seve-O,that's my old bow.Chris killed a 190+'' muley and a 380'' bull w/ that bow.I called it MOJO.I shot a few squirrels w/ it.Just to lihgt of draw weight for my liking.

I have heard a lot of good comments about the Habu bows and that they are very fast and good shooters but I have never seen any info regarding how they compare in head to head competition with top performing bows (with regards to arrow speed) such as Morrison and ACS bows.  Has anyone actually compared the bows using a shooting machine and same weight arrows from each bow???

Hey Guys,

I've never shot my habu through a machine. I know its fast and it puts them where I'am looking. So I'am not so concerned about the speed. To me it out performs all the other bows I've had, and I've had all the best at one time or another. They'll have to pry my Vyperkahn from my cold dead fingers!!!

well, my all glass vyperkahn shot right at 188fps with 9gpp and a custom 10 strand 8125 string.  chris said the double carbon was 10fps faster than the glass model and now if the triple carbon is faster by 10 fps, it would be in the ballpark at 9gpp at 28" draw that an adcock is at 9gpp and 30" draw.  we all know that's not happening, but, the easiest way to gain speed on a habu is to cut off and reserve the string. the most effective way is to replace the stock string/cable and perhaps variations in strings is what is gaining.  the above claims would make it the fastest bow in the world by a long long way.

From what I understood, his all glass longbow was a bit slower than his hycurve, and his double carbon was a equal or a tad faster than the hycurve. Then this triple carbon is 10fps faster than that.I have a hycurve and he told me my gain should be around 10fps not 20fps as the math above shows.

Even so that puts the Habu triple carbon firmly into ACS CX, Morrison foam core territory. Nice!

Does anyone know?  Is Chris using regular carbon in these bows, or is he using the foam core stuff like Bob Morrison is using?

The foam core is a glass in the Morrisons. The carbon is on the back of the bow with the glass foam core and fiberglass belly.

We have a thread where people think $30 or more for a single broadhead is nothing, so $1750 for a bow doesn't seem out of line for those folks.

Now to the post, never owned one, but the people I know that have, really liked their Habu.

I had a Vyperkhan made for me a couple years back. By far the most beautiful bow that I have owned. Excellent craftsmanship.
Very smooth and a quick bow. I could not get it as quiet as I would've liked so I sold it.
The riser fit my hand ver well, but I could not shoot it as well as other bows. That also played a role in me selling it.
Bows like these, those that have a very long waiting list, do not loose their value quickly so buying one would not be a bad investment. If you didn't like it someone would take it over waiting a year or more.

btw, i want the string comment to be taken for what it is.  some bowyers redline their bows with a higher regard for performance than durability.  others waaaaay overbuild.  some find a happy medium.  chris is in the middle and only adds performance when it has been extensively shown to be able to be durable as well.  he wants his strings durable and they sure are, my point was not to disparage habu bows and their strings but to point out that you can gain major performance with a change.  don't shoot one next to an adcock with the stock string and judge performance.  you'd think the habu was a stinker performance-wise, have similiar strings and they're both in the same ballpark.  i have no idea where the triple carbon falls into this.

Well, I am just amazed...

I traded Dave for that older Ebony VK Hycurve he had.  I got myself a chronograph for Christmas and did a little testing.

The bow tunes with the same arrows as my 55# Silvertips.  The VK is 50#.  I draw 29.5" and use a clicker.

The Silvertip shoots a 517g arrow at 186fps, the Habu...185.  The Silvertip shoots a 641g arrow 174fps, the Habu 171.  That is simply amazing to me as an engineer.  Virtually the same performance with 6# lighter draw weight.

This is just bamboo limbs, I can only imagine what the double and triple carbon can do.

The thing shoots great to boot!  I can't say I am converted; but I am impressed.  Am I impressed enough to spend $2000 for a new one?  I don't know about that, but it is something that I can't keep from popping into my mind at least 3 times/hour!
