I wear Filson wool every day of the winter, in the logging industry.  Indestructible and functional.

I have a Mackinaw vest that typically ends up being my outermost layer of wool (if I'm going to be sitting or if it's *really* cold).  I love the thing and expect to be wearing that as long as I'm hunting (and cold).

As others have said, Filson makes some great wool products - especially the Mackinaw coats, vests, and pants. I've been to the Filson store in Seattle many times and on every visit I've always wished my banking account were larger. Unfortunately, though, I went to buy a Filson knit hat a few days ago and noticed that it was made in China. I've also noticed in the Filson catalog that many of their products are now imported. Even so, I really can't say one way or another if the import products are of lesser quality than I've come to expect from Filson. But a lot of the products - including the Mackinaw coats and vests - are still made at the Seattle factory.

My wife bought me a Mackinaw Cruiser for my birthday last year and it rocks.  I wore it during an Alaska winter, mostly rabbit and ptarmigan hunting and it rocked!  Just wear a good lower layer and you'll be fine.  I'm studying forestry in Spokane WA and I'll be using it for timberr cruising.

Filson is some of the best of the best.  Their wool is outstandingly tough and weather resistant.
I have two of the Mackinaw vests and love them.

The best there is period.

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

I have a Filson coat and pants as well as the same by Columbia. Both keep you warm but the Filson quality is incredible. On really cold long sits in a tree stand I start with poly long underwear, followed with a GI sweater, Filson coat and the Columbia parka over everything. I stay toasty on 15 degree days.

I found a place on the aution site that had a Filson mackinaw coat. It was a 44 and I needed a 46. I e-mailed him and he got me the 46. Great price and brand new with a return with in 14 days.
