50 years of hibernation\\ over in the snow
« on: December 10, 2008, 09:52:00 PM »
I posted several days ago about getting this minty 57 Kodiak Special. Story is original owner was stationed in Germany. He and his buddy both bought new Bears to chase bunnies over there with. They shipped them home, where this one supposedly was taken out and looked at once in awhile. And that has been its life the last 50 Years. I acquire it put a new string and catwhisker's on it. Installed a nice Thunderhorn quiver on her,and off we went. I think Fred would be proud his products can still look new and shoot the same after 50 years. We did not shoot anything except a few stumps and clumps. What a wonderful day in the woods with a classic.

I think you are right, Fred would be proud, not only at the durability, but the esteem his bows rightfully held in by so many.

Nice bow.

You can always send it to me Nathan. We like the ones ya stand on the right side of  :D

Whip I was not looking up, this woods is full of squirrels USUALLY. Deer season is still on. So I was still hunting for both, which don't allow much for treetop observations. Least far as the deer are concerned  :D  Oh yeah I seen one squirrel with no shot.

Here's me shooting my 1958 Kodiak Special way back when.    :D
They were good bows back then and still are.

I've got one just like it.  46# @ 28"

What are the specs on yours?

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.
