What...another Silvertip thread?
« on: March 07, 2007, 07:59:00 AM »
Thinking about getting another Silvertip! Looking for some thoughts and experiences!

First, anybody out there have any experience with the short riser with long limb 60" Schafer TD? I understand it is the 58" bow riser with 62" bow limbs....any strung up pics?

Second, I was first thinking a a replica of my original Schafer with a Walnut Dymondwood riser and camo limbs....but now, I'm leaning towards a FF riser with with some sort of exotic limbs....anybody have some quilted maple limbs pics they would like to show off? Any other cool limbs?

Last, anyone have a Midnight Ebony Dymondwood riser...how's it working out? Pics?

Thanks for your help!!!

Hey Bob,

My fancier Silvertip has a walnut dymondwood riser that will accomodate ff and it's spruced up a bit with these russian olive limbs that sport kudu tips. I can use my antler limb bolts to add another touch.

Tim, Would you have a pic of these limbs on the walnut dymondwood riser? Fred

Tim,
I have owned both short and long riser tips. On the 58 incher you give up sight window. I would say you get used to it but its not my first choice. I like the longer riser set for a 60 inch bow. For me it is much more stable in hand. I just came into a 60 incher dacron and at least for me I actually like it more than ff. It is quieter and more forgiving and very easy to tune, could not be happier. Good luck tom

Keith, I've been considering curly or quilted maple for limb laminations as well! I just got on the list last night...Beth sent me some bow pics and the choices are way too many!!

I have bows from 59 up to 68 lbs @28".
Can't do Pittsville...kids have me busy the entire weekend!

Here is some Russian olive, and zebra.
The 60" short riser combo is may favorite followed by the 60" med riser. I think the longer limbs are quicker, they both point well, and either has plenty of mass to be stable for me.

Zebra wood.

The maples are real nice, I had a set of quilted maple and they sure were pretty. I'll look for some pics..
