Help me name my next longbow!
« on: December 11, 2008, 12:30:00 PM »
I'm building a new bow for me!  It will be a short 62" mild R/D longbow.  It will have red elm cores, red cedar limbs, and I'm not real sure on the riser yet.  Maybe bubinga or blood wood.  Anyway, you get the theme right.  I'm thinking "Crimson Dreams",  or "Bloody Mary", or "?????".  Help me with some ideas folks.

I like "Crimson Dreams" myself. Dreams offer hope.

How bout , "Precision Guesswerk", or maybe an UGA fan throw a lil black in there and call it "Dawg Fight", wait after the Tech Game that may not be a good idear,,, (sorry, Lord forgive me, that was wrong...)

Down there in Brunswick it could be Porker Poker","Red Rooter" or something like that

Have fun with it man... You are crafting her with yur own to hands, you take the various pieces of wood -cut em, glue em up, and breath life into them till they become a bow... let it speak to you and you will know   :clapper:

Robert Carter on another site recommended "Bloody Marsh", and I like it.  It has some historical significance.  In 1742 General Olglethorpe commanding 600 troops defeated 3,000 Spainiards on St Simons Island.  They were caught in the open salt marsh trying to take Fort Frederica.

With the number of hogs you shoot I would go with Slasher's "Red Rooter", seems to fit.

Marty, those troops of the Generals were Irish Highlanders from Darien. Special battle for that era of time that ran the Spanish south into Florida for good. Bloody Marsh would be a fitting name for a bow that will be used in the marshes and a good tribute to those who settled the Ga coast.

Been doing plenty of hunting since I got over that little tick thing. Shot four does with my new MOAB. Looking forward to coming back to the coast for a little pig sticking. By the way they were Scottish Highlanders not Irish. My bad on that one. Bows are looking good.

Marty, Ann Margret was the best looking red head I've ever seen so I'd probably just call her "Annie"
