Can you say Bunny Hunt?
« on: December 13, 2008, 08:15:00 PM »
We had a huge ice storm here in my part of Ny and over 250,000 without power. So what is one to do? I went bunny huntin today. The guys and gals who have been to my bunny hunt know we have lots of rabbits. Today was awesome. I left the house at 2:30 and everything was coated with ice, I mean a 1/2" of ice. I only hit two small spots and they were out and about. I hunted the two spots where Killdeer and I hunted last year and where we did the kids hunt on our first day of the Joan Leonard Memorial Bunny Hunt last year. I managed to miss 13 shots at a total of 19 0r 20 bunnies. I only hunted and hour and they were the ones I saw. I could here more going out in front of me as I skated along. It should be another banner year and I am looking forward to another great hunt with all my Tradgang friends. Shawn

That sounds like a lot of fun. We're getting snow here as well. I plan on heading out to a nearby area with my bow tomorrow morning to see if I can see some cottontails.

I was at the Bean outlet store a couple of weeks ago. I remembered that huge field of ice that we crossed to get to the thorny ravine where Dave impaled his eye on a wayward snag. I got two types of ice gripper thingies. Nothing makes me feel quite as helpless as ice. Glad you and the bunnies can show me an upside to the stuff!

Eat the raspberry-blue snow!

And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

I was wondering why all the blue snow had hand marks in it! Killy...no wonder why you werent panting and dehydrated like everyone else when you all came rolling in.  :biglaugh:

Where do you all hunt bunnies? The population seems pretty good in my area, but nowhere could I find more than a handfull during a days hunt.

Well, I'm glad that you are into the bunnies like crazy there! Do you all have alot of coyotes there? We've been seeing coyotes every time we go out, sometimes 2 or 3 a day.

Sounds pretty promising Shawn, we have so many fox around and so much less cover that are population is quite low. I have been making some shafts out of some old fir porch boards, my friend gave me a bunch of goose wings complete with feathers so I'll be well stocked when we show up

Wed will be the first bunny hunt of the year for me. Beagles are pumped & ready, as well as my weapon. Sorry I just cant wing arrows at the bunnies, I like to hit a few now & then. Specially after the dogs work so hard. After a while I will get back at it with bow. I have a young pup that is just coming on & packing with the older dogs & he needs some fur in his teeth. Mike
