Anyone ever????
« on: December 14, 2008, 08:29:00 PM »
Left gasket laquer in a dip tube too long...

I have and it's hard as a brick... Is there anyway to get it out or something to use to make it usable again?

Thanks for any help!

Been there, done that.  I tried to thin it out with acetone but it was more trouble than it was worth.  Junk it and get yourself a new tube.  I think the reason it "sets up" is that air gets to it.  I started capping the end, as usual and then putting a thick plastic bag over the end and rubber banding it to make it airtight.  Haven't messed with it for awhile but it seems to keep pretty well like that.  Good luck!

What he said.  I have emptied my dip tube and then the old laquer will dry and come right out.  But if you leave it full too long, it's a losing situation.
Damn Nice guy

Acetone will work, but as others have said, it's more trouble than it's worth, in the long run.

Thanks for the info!

I was afraid that's what I'd have to do... I make so few wood arrows anymore I guess I just let it sit too long!
