"Sure" said Linus...I can tell you what Christmas is all about.

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over thier flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them. And they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them..."Fear not, for behold, I bring you tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you. Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger."

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest and on Earth, peace, goodwill toward men."

Hey, can anybody explain to me why the only two words in the english language that are abreviated with an "X" are Christmas and crossing?

Why is it that we only X out the words Christ and Cross ?

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. People are generally in good cheer, kids are excited and we spend a little extra time being thankful for God's greatest gift to us. God has given us many gifts: the woods, the meadows, the mountains, sticks and strings . . . but none can compare to the gift of His Son. Born to die so we may live. I thought the X in Xmas was for the Greek word meaning Messiah, which starts with an X. Could be wrong, but either way... Merry Christmas all!
