Backstraps!!! Part 2
« on: December 20, 2008, 06:38:00 PM »
The alarm went off at 5:15 this morning. I dragged myself out of bed more out of habit than anything else. In the stand by 6:00 watching wood ducks squelling into an old lake I was hunting on the back of.  After the last flight of ducks went by I looked down and saw this big doe, her sister, and two yearlings feeding toward me down a slough.  I waited till she fed by quartering away and let fly.  The arrow took her through the back of the right lung and exited
the offside shoulder.  She made it about 100yrds with a blood trail a blind man could follow.  I went and retrieved my son Tyler to help with the dragging and skinning.  All in all a really neat morning. BW SAIII 57#@27" Carbonwood 3000 with 225 WW upfront.  :bigsmyl:

Harold: Tyler is only seven now, but he's got a little Black Rhino longbow that he's shooting real well.  He's also getting pretty good with his BB gun.  He goes hunting with me ever now and then when time permits.

Great!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Nice job!  The t-shirts are killing me tho'....
yesterday was 6-10 degrees, 20+ mph winds, and we got another 5 inches of snow.  Bringing the year to date total to darn near 40 inches at my house....just waiting for the ice to freeze on the lake so I can get the shanty out and do some crappie fishing.

I think she's winkin' at me!?
When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.
