Are you a one bow or many bow type?
« on: December 23, 2008, 03:10:00 PM »
How many guys out there own and hunt with multiple makes of bows?  Or maybe you have many bows by the same bowyer?  I have owned tons of bows but currently only own 2 (although I am on the list for another one).  My favorite bows so far are a Habu by Chris Cox, and a Dakota by Rick Welch.  I have been hunting with the Dakota the last 2.5 seasons.  I have found that I shoot better when I stick with just one or 2 bows.  What about you guys?

I shoot one, but own six or seven. Mostly older curves my Dad owned. I only hunt with my LB though...

I shoot longbows and recurves and now and then a compound, but I prefer longbows. Longbows a just so light in the hand and a joy to carry. If I'm hunting from a stand a recurve is ok also.

I only shoot one...at a time    .

I usually stick with one of my Kanati's during season, but I shoot them all in the off season. The Kanati's are the best I have found thus far.

I'm trying to become a one-bow man ... still have to shed a couple, though. Right now, my favorite maker and bow is JD Lund and his Whisperstik.

I'm trying to get down to four or five.  Any given season, I'll hunt with three or four different bows.  I use lighter bows for deer and small game and heavier bows for bigger critters.  And, of course, I have a junker for carp shooting. I've hunted with one bow in the morning and a different bow in the afternoon.  They're mostly longbows, and most are in the same weight range, handle the same arrows and shoot similarly.  Never had a problem with switching back and forth.  Lately, however, I've noticed that I've been picking up my ACS most of the time.

Try to stay with one per season.

Although I own a few I hunted with one curve this season. Now that season is almost over the others will come out to play. Can't see just one bow-almost heresy.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

I own several bows of 7 different bowyers, but I would like to have the total bow production if it were possible. But I hunt with just a couple of bows, always the same. I don't have anyway big problems to switch from a bow to another

I hunt with several bows througout the season. Took a doe with a Black Widow recurve and a buck
with a Treadway longbow this year. Some bows have better "mojo" than others.

I have about 50 bows - not counting the little fiberglass kid bows (that would be 20 more)

I do a lot of archery support for Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Church camps so they come in handy with my collection of several thousand arrows and a box full of safety gear.  Been collecting all this for over 40 years.  Have not picked up much in the last 2 years since traditional bows have become much more scarce and the prices on used bows have gone out of sight.  I would guess my collection is now worth a WHOLE lot more than I originally paid.

As for myself, I have about 6 favorites that I try to keep current with.

I have three custom bows with a forth coming VERY shortly. However, when I am seriously going hunting I always grab my Zipper Extreme.

I own several but generally only hunt with the one that I have the most confidence in on game
(a Martin Hatfield 50#).

I shoot a Great Plains Palo Duro recurve at the range and plan on hog hunting with it this winter.

I tried shooting to longbows at once, both where 60lb I wasn't strong enough,   :goldtooth:   so I just shoot one now
