Any one shoot in your house
« on: December 23, 2008, 09:39:00 PM »
Hello Guys, Here in MI we have been getting a lot of snow and it's been very cold. I try and shoot my bow  everyday for about an hour and haft. But with it being so cold I can only shoot for about 15mins before going in to warm up. So do any of you guys shoot in your house and what kinds of targets do you have if you have pics of your range I would like to see them.
Thanks guys and I wish you and your family's a merry Christmas.

Take Care,
Cody

Been shooting in my basement since we built the house more than 30 years ago.  I have about a 12 yard shot.  I use a large target faced square nylon bag stuffed with plastic.  Concrete wall behind it.  There are a few chips in the wall, reminders of the suddenness with which target panic can strike.  Would be a good idea to hang a carpet behind the bag target to stop errant arrows, but I've never gotten around to doing that.

Cody, I told my wife I'd build her a new house if I could have a 20 yard lane in the basement   :readit:  .....she agreed.

Just about every day in the house. I "Howard Hill" and shoot alot for form.  I shoot into a 18x18 "THE BLOCK" target.  They last about three years when subjected to the inside the house treatment,,, thousands and thousands of broadhead tipped shots...

Like the others I have been shooting in the basement for a few years. Distance is only about 4 yards, but is good to keep muscles in shape,  form and practice good back tension, etc. I use a feed bag filled with Walmart plastic bags for target.

Merry Xmas.

God bless,

Jose

In the cellar for me too.About an 11 yard shot and from a sitting position.I filled a burlap bag full of old tarps with a 1/3 sheet of plywood behind it
leaning up against the cellar door.
It can blow as hard as it wants outside....

I made my new shop 64 ft long, 20 yard shot. Have shot indoors even in motels. Target panic will happen eventually no matter how much you try not to. So, be prepared to patch.

Complaining about the holes in the back wall of my new shop to a friend recently and he told me that he uses a queen mattress for the fail safe backstop behind his target. You can find mattresses for free if you watch for them. Gonna get one soon myself.

I just moved but up until a few weeks ago yes. I would sit on the back of the couch and shoot out thru the dining room into the kitchen(13 yards) I did this for years, I broke one blender and put a hole in two garbage cans in 12 years of doing this. I always let the dogs out and locked and chained the back door when I shot. Shawn

when i was in college i had a home made bag target and used to shoot in my room in rez just to keep muscles working and work on form but it did make quite a bit of noise, often wonder what they used to think lol

and yes i did put a hole in the wall had to invest a bit of DIY repair time to get my deposit back    :knothead:

I shoot everyday about 7 -10 yards into a block target which I sit in a old chair for alittle extra safety if I did ever miss the target.
