Jaw Dropping Holiday Gift
« on: December 23, 2008, 11:56:00 PM »
A package was sitting on the kitchen counter when I arrived home tonight.  Enclosed a card read:
"Kyle, I have been working on this for a while and finally got it done.  I made it totally from scratch and designed it myself.  the blade is 440c that is cryo treated...The scales are Ziricote made from scraps left over from your Rose Oak!  I bought the wood from Brandon.  Pretty cool   :D    I made the sheath also.  I hope the knife brings you many years of enjoyment.  Happy Hunting!  Shawn"

I met Shawn on here this spring and accompanied him on a successful elk hunting trip here in Colorado.  The story is here  http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=064145;p=1
Shawn knows how little I talk, but when I saw how kick butt of a gift this was I haven't been able to stop talking about it.  How cool is it that he got the wood from my one and only custom bow?  The craftsmanship is flawless to boot!
Thanks Shawn for such a meaningful gift!
   Kyle

Fine looking blade!! Knives have a special place in the arsenal of any hunter. That's one that anyone would be proud to carry.

A great gift from a true friend indeed!  I have a knife with a similar blade design and it is one of my favorites.
Is that elk hide in the sheath?
