Do you have to pick one - wood / carbon?
« on: December 28, 2008, 09:38:00 AM »
I keep going back and forth and like both....  however I am shooting a longbow instinctively and notice there is a difference in where the 11/32 wood arrows and 9/32 carbons hit when I shoot.  If I have been shooting the carbons for a while the woodies will shoot high.  Left / Right seems about the same.

Do you have to pick one to really be a good shot or are some of you able to adapt and shoot both consistently well when switching back and forth?  There is probably something to be said for consistency... glove/tab, etc.  But trying different things is fun too. javascript:void(0)

thanks!

Well if, by chance or Miracle, EVERYTHING else is the same, you have different diameter arrows. This affects your nock height setting.
The Fatter wood arrow is resting up higher from the get-go.

You can quickly get used to one or the other, but having a mixed quiver isn't the quickest route to consistancy!

It is also pointing a little more left. Consistent with the results you are getting.

I think it is just like the "bow" thread the other day. Pick one and stay with it to be the best you can be.

I've always loved POC arrows out of longbows. Only wood out of a selfbow...
I started years ago with recurves when XX75's were the best you could buy so I shoot alum. out of my recurves..

Shoot whatever performs the best for you and stick with them.

I shoot about everything, different types of bows, carbon, wood, aluminum, and ACC arrows and it is a hoot.
I'd like to check out some different types of wood with footed shafts and tungston weights later on.
