Last day of the regular bow season here in KS. Decided to bring in the New Year with a last night hunt. Visited with the rancher almost too late. . . got to a new stand at 4:00. Dead still quiet. Had deer milling around by 4:30. 4:45. . . a mature doe steps out. Wow. . .last of the season. . . oops!. . arrow is looking good but drops under her belly. She jumps a little but just walks out.
Okay. . . slow, slow. . . new arrow on. She gives me a 20+ broadside. Arrow zips through. . .a little further back but nicely low. She just takes two quick steps then looks around. Walks off about 25 yards and stands there for a few minutes. She then beds down right there. . . dang it. . . too far back- defintely not a double lung. . .she gets up after 20 minutes and walks ten more yards where she drops for the count.
New Year's Eve deer. . . such a gift. Drive the car up within 25 yds. I clipped the back of one lung and centered the liver.
Sharp heads did the trick again!
Great way to end the year. . .
Sorry no pics. . . battery dead on the camera!!
