The nearest place to me for both deer and elk is about 40-50 miles round trip. For spring bear season about 6,000 miles round trip.I think the travel can become part of the adventure.Pending the airline don't lose your bow.bd

40 miles round trip to the military reservation I hunt.  Usually, get 8-9 half day hunts and 1-2 full day hunts per year.  Buddy has a lease 45 minute drive I get to go a couple times per year for hogs.
Grew-up in PA hunting the mountain 1/2 mile behind the house.  I really miss that.

7 minute ride to either of my 2-80 acre parcels. There is also some nice state land between my house and them. I'm with George, I love rural living.

Bou are 800 miles one way. We stay a week.  Sheep are about 650.  Then I fly down and in MT its about 100 miles.  We stay for a few days minimum.  SD involves about 450 to get there and then about 20 miles each way to hunt.  For MN hunt w/mom, its 900 miles each way and we stay at the shack.  She shot two within 150 yards of the shack (87 years young).

10 min. to 60 min. depends on my mood and how many deer I think I might see. After this year I think that I'm going to have to go alot farther from home to see game. Maybe set aside time for trip somewhere.

With all the developement around here the last several years and pockets full of doe tags my favorite area has been cleaned out pretty good.  Never see anything anymore.  We have lots of public land, it'll just mean more time on the road next year to get there.

Depending on the area I want to hunt for the weekend 65 miles one way to 195 miles one way.
I'm in the woods every weekend during deer season and at least 2 solid weeks every year.

Walked from the house and killed 2 deer this year on a very small tract of private land that gets pounded by my neighbors gun. Probably 100 yards at the most.10,000 acres of very good public land for deer 16 miles away,9,000 acres of public land where I kill a lots of hogs is 30 miles away. 5,000 acres of land with exceptional deer and hogs is 20 miles away and several other tracts totaling around 500,000 acres less than 60 miles. All public land and all with plenty of critters.
