I got one with the shotgun, but it still feels like I got skunked. I'm really kicking myself about it because I passed on a few small bucks in the early bow season. I thought I would try the "let the small ones walk" thing. I would have liked to have shot a doe this year, but all of my opportunities with the bow were small bucks. Ended up shooting a small 6 pt. with the shotgun after I got the impression another guy who has permission to hunt on the property was intentionally trying to ruin my hunting. Although my dad and I have permission to hunt the land and hunt no where near where he hunts, this guy has made it clear he doesn't like it. He was focusing his racoon trapping and wood cutting as close as possible to my treestands with greater intensity during the rut. During prime time during the rut (on my vacation day) he drove his quad right up to my treestand and basically accused me of stealing his coon trap. I had gone from seeing tons of deer and small bucks to nothing, so I felt pretty lucky to see that buck on opening day of the shotgun season and figured I might as well take it. I really need to find a new place to hunt or focus more on state land. At least on state land I can expect that kind of behavior. I also decided next year I'm not going to be as picky. With only one deer with my recurve I feel like I need to get a few more under my belt before I start getting picky.
