Whatever the situation calls for. I've shot animals with my bow straight up and canted.

With traditional equipment, always canted. When I do break out my compound with sights then I shoot straight. Completely different anchor so I don't have a problem making the switch.

canted- with my longbow off the shelf. But when I shot off a raised rest on my recurve -  I shot with it vertical.

both-Ive never really payed much attentioned to it but I know at longer distances the bow is nearly vertical, and out of a tree,-when the animal is close, my bow is horizontal.

Canted at about 2:00 O'clock for most hunting. Vertical for long 3D shots.

A vertical fire arm doesnt hit your face nor obstruct your view if you try to look down the barrel.

Canted. Be careful as you get older and find yourself canting your head over you may doze off for a second or so but helps with the release.

I can and do shoot either way depending on the situation.Normally the longer the shot the more vertical I want my bow.
