D. Pau Ferro -- final answer

That is a beautiful wood. Here is a picture of a guitar that is being built with pau ferro. It is a nice alternative to macasser ebony, but I am not sure it is quite as dense. Also more of a reddish color in the wood.

I forgot to add the guitar picture. Sorry. Maybe it will change the minds of those who picked macasser ebony which it does look similar to.  http://artisanguitarrepair.com/woodpickguards.com/productImages/PauFerroSTratSet600.jpg

Here is another shot with different lighting. Messing around with the guessing.  Snowing pretty good outside now.  Thought this would help some cabin fever.

It is Macassar Ebony.C.  One really nice and different than the normal "blackish" dark(which I also like). Every blue moon one great piece of wood comes around.  This one is so cool with the black lines running through the stock. Red tint line on the back end. I have seen many Pau Ferro that came close to this. Has a touch of some bocote grain. I feel real lucky to have this one.  Shoots like a dream!
