Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

The ASTB has several good shoots at Tannehill every year. The Howard Hill is also held there. It's just south of Birmingham, not really close but worth the trip.

The Tannehill shoots are off the chart excellent in my opinion.  I lived in Tuscaloosa for 4 years and now am in Rogersville - just west of Huntsville about 45min.  Great area (I grew up here) although i'm just hoping to get started hunting on some of the public land mentioned by one of the other members.  Best of luck

I live about 60 miles north west of Huntsville in Florence. The three larger shoots at Tannehill park south of Birmingham are definitely worth the 2 hr drive from Huntsville. Two more shoots, in early spring and late fall, at the Briarfield Iron Works south of Birmingham are mighty good ones as well.

I live just north of Huntsville(Meridianville). Work in Huntsville. Southern Draw Bowyer just outside of town. Turkey Creek Bowyer South of Huntsville an hour or so. Sipsey River was closest Trad Shop 1 1/2 hour south in Arley.  Custom Archery Center as best Archery Shop in town(Indoor range). Most of us Trad guys meet at 3D shoots in the area. I put a list out each year of the 3d shoots in a 2 hour drive of Huntsville. Main Trad shoots:
1.Kentucky Klassic -1st weekend April Nancy,Ky. 6 hours.
2.Tannehill Childrens shoot last weekend April. 2 hours.   www.astb.net
3.Tennessee Classic 1st weekend May. 2 hours.My favorite.
4. Howard Hill shoot 1st weekend June 2 hours.
5. Alabama State Shoot 1st weekend Aug. 2 hours.  www.astb.net
Lots of other stuff.
 PM if any questions.
