Good friends are hard to come by
« on: March 09, 2007, 10:52:00 PM »
I've been in here for about a year and have seen the best displays of generosity, good humor, and willingness to help. A great bunch of people. Heck I even just won a free set of arrows from Donald. Thanks again bro!
One person in particular is "Pops".  I met him last year when I bought a Thunderstick Mag from him. We have traded bows and I have bought a couple more since then and chatted on the phone. I recently bought a bow from him and had some problems. I e-mailed him to ask what he thought it might be and he offered to exchange for a different bow, no questions asked. I know when you generally buy a used bow it comes "as is". I applaude him for his outstanding display of helpfullness and value a great new friendship, they are hard to come by these days. Mike your awesome!! By the way we are planning on a black bear hunt next year! I can't wait!!!!   :campfire:
Value a site like this. From what I have seen elsewhere people are eager to cut eachother down, post rude comments, and act in a manner that the anti's would love to see. Division amongst our own is what will kill our way of life. Thank God for our own little chunck of cyberspace!!   :D
Just one more step please!

Oh man, don't ever compliment Brian! Now that's all I'll be hearing about for weeks! LOL the problem with this site is to many good people and no where near enough time and money to hunt or shoot with them all. We all learn to live with that kind of problem pretty easily though.    :bigsmyl:

I have to agree
I've had to move around alittle the last several years and I have found that when I mention bowhunting it is either crossbow (here in Ont Canada) or compound.
I have no ill will towards either group of hunters but it is not the same as talking to a trad shooter.Ours tends to be more about the method of the hunt than the results of the hunt.
I have made some friends on this site that I hope to keep(Harl and Ontario longbow) and more recentely at the EOBH, that I hope to stay in touch with for many years to come. The good lord willin ,strong friendships will grow from these get togethers.
I have checked out a few of those other trad sites and you are right ,there is to much conflict.I can get all the conflict I need all week long on the construction sites where I spend most of my days.
I have very few hours these days to spend with my children and our bows and this site is a wealth of info and friendship and I never feel like I'm wasting time when I visit here.
If it wasn't for Hillary Blackburn I may have never found my way to the woods and the water.I miss you Puppy.Love from your grandson.

Hey Gary,, I have to agree,, we don't have alot of Trads here in Ontario but I've never met a bad one yet. Greatest people going, I think that we appreciate each others commitment to hunting with Traditional equipment, we love to shoot our bows (and watch the flight of the arrow) and we have alot of fun doing it,, Frank

The list of good deeds go on and on. I have never met and hope to meet a finer bunch of folks.

Hey Frank
If you think about the size of this province it is a friggin wonder any of us ever get to meet. Now think about our brothers and sisters in the US and all our friends overseas.
It is great that the powers that be have given us a place to meet and that good people like Big Dog and Forest Witch do the things that they do so that we can get to know each other here in Ont.
Thank you
Terry and everyone that makes this happen.

Gotta disagree with with the title of this thread, Arwin. Good friends aren't hard to come by...if you're a member of TradGang...  :archer:

I've got friends on this site, most of which I've never actually met, that I feel closer to than people that I've known for years!!  I feel truly blessed and honored, just to be a part of it...

You are right My Friend!!!!! The people here, are The Best.....of The Best!!!!!

Not to Hi-Jack your thread,But my own little story.....

In 1999 I wanted to get back into archery "the old way" LOL. I had no idea that there was a "traditional" archery community.I hit some of the archery shops looking for an old used recurve, and finaly I met an old gent that gave me Joe Skipp's phone number.I can still hear him saying "anything to do with recurves and wood arrows and such.....Joe's The Man"!!!!! I bought a used 55# Kodiak Magnum,a bow stringer, and some cedar arrows from Joe and I was on my way. Over the years Joe sold me arrows and answered my questions and pointed me toward this web-site.

Here on TradGang I have learned much, met many Good Friends, and found a "New Family"

I have just recently made the transition to traditional archery....actually i'm still IN tansition here....The people on this site have given me a warm welcome even though i came in arguing kinetic energy and arrow speed with all my might..... it took me awhile to see what is actually going on here. one of the guys here told me it "Is a way of life" as much as a way to cast arrows...... I've given that statement a lot of thought and he's right! All these years i've spent seeking the best way to increase my performance in archery.......i realize now i've missed a huge part of archery all together....

Thanks for accepting me guys!    Kirk
