Twist in a Kodiak Magnum limb.
« on: January 10, 2009, 06:31:00 AM »
Can you get a twist out of a limb ? It's not a real bad one. I would like to try. I've heard the warm water and hair dryer deals. I haven't shot this bow in years. What's the secret ?
Thanks !!

You can try this, it has worked for me.
If it is a very small twist, just twist it back the other, lightly, way until it is straight. But be careful not to put a lot of pressure during the twist, you can break the limb.
If that does not work, use a blow dryer or hot water to heat the limb in the area of the twist. Get the limb warm on both sides, not so hot it hurts the hand if you touch the hot limb. Then twist it lightly in the opposite direction of the twist. When it is straight, pur it under cold water to cool it quickly.

The easiest way is to string it up, set in in a bucket of hot water for 10 minutes, pull it out and twist the limb straight, then set in a bucket of cold water for a couple of minutes. Draw the bow to see if it stays straight. It may take two or three cycles before it stays. Leave it strung up for a few days to help  the straightened limb keep its memory.
