I was just playing around with my forge and had a slightly different idea on the line of the Ashby single bevel. Last spring I made up some braodheads that proved to be quite strong as they are tempered a bit harder than most other heads. They did the job on bears going 3 for 3. I made another head a week or so ago that passed my torture test...But I was looking for something a little more dramatic

What I did was make a single bevel grind from the mid line of the blade to the edge and then put a single bevel edge on that. Hopefully the picture shows it better. The head turned out to be 265 Grains that fits in a Beman ICS hunter shaft. The head spins great and I'll add a taper at the end of the shaft. It should really spin/torque with the LW feathers driving it. Don't know if this is any improvement but I hope to try it on a Texas hog or javie...Doc

i did the same thing on some trade points, i needed it to loose some weight. it worked very well i think, im not shure if it will ad anymore spin during penetration due to the already exerted force or the cutting bevel beating it to the punch.

I guess I didn't mean more spin but the bevel is certainly exagerated...maybe more torque to cut/break bone. My Pats didn't make it to the play offs so ya gotta do something. Plus a little mojo might help in Texas...Doc

That is one good looking head there Doc...should go great with the new knife.

Steve, I can't get pictures to show the off set edges as the shine on the angles kinda obscures the propeller like twist to the camera. I guess the best way I can describe it is---if you were to push it into something, the head would start to twist on it's own. It matches the twist of LW feathers. I'm not sure if there is any + or- thing. But it really exaggerates that LW single bevel. If I'm lucky enough to harvest a hog or javie, I'll definitely take some necropsy pictures...Doc

So it looks a little like an airplane wing in cross section from the center to the edge?

Wait till you see a pic of what he is doing! So far it is looking really good.

I will try and get him to send all the donors of the heads a pic once he is done.

If you kill something with head please send him a picture of you with the animal and a short write of the hunt.

He is going to make a holder for the back to put all the photo's and write ups he gets.

Bowdoc, I'll give you a cedar Bear arrow. With the extra head weight, it will feel like a Sweetland! You might be spoiled and hard pressed to go back to them Sweetland/Razorheads combos
