A stump shooting morning
« on: January 11, 2009, 01:59:00 PM »
Went  for a hike in the Arizona desert with longbow in hand. Targets of opportunity usually want to stick you or have rocks all around them, so I used some carbons for most of the shooting.
This old palo verde stump was safe for woodies, or so I thought until I broke off the point when I shot it.

So I started shooting carbons at cholla skeletons, which worked a little better; didn't break any.

The desert has received some moisture this winter, so some of the washes have some standing water. A few javelina and deer tracks around this one;

A nice morning spent in the solitude of the desert, just me and the bow. I can get into this snowbirding thing.

Vance,
This would be more appropriately called the "Big Thorns".

Nice looking day and nice looking bow.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
