Ya Paul, I'm disappointed that I'm not making the hunt. Got a dozen tapered POC shafts that where gonna be made up special for the hunt and the PV "Bear Quest II" bow, it was gonna make the trip also. The mount of "Stubby" is supposed to be done the end of the month. Can't wait to get him back.

You folks are gonna have a great time again this year!!!!!

Hey Nate, hows it going?

Going good Matt.  Just enjoying the cool weather.  11 below this morning. Just wish we could get some snow with it.  I guess I'm going to have to buy a plane ticket this year if you aren't able to go.  I don't think I want to make that ride alone.  The dogs aren't going to like stubby.

Go ahead and drive, Meathead.  I drove it last year from Springfield, IL, with a stop in NJ both ways.    :D

Matt and I drove it last year and it wasn't to bad, but I think I may be able to fly cheaper than drive on my own.

Paul that +4 does sound balmy.  You've probably got snow there.  I've got maybe an inch at the house and none down at our farm.  At least on the frozen ground I can drive the jeep closer to the treestands I need to pull.

Hey Matt,  Did you get a start on makin' a knife with Stubby's broken bone?  This spring with bowdoc the "bladesmith", I'm goin' to have a hard time coming away with any unique knife handle bones  :)   Doc

Doc, I wouldn't even know where to begin in making a knife. However, I have been reading the knife building forum trying to get things figured out. Theres an old Maple tree on the back of my place that the last two winters have not been very kind to. This spring I'm gonna wander back there and see if I might find some nice burl out of limb crotch. I've hunted around that tree for 30 years, might make some nice scales for the Bear Quest II knife.

Paul, I've got some 50-54# shafts for the bow. Think they will work?

Might be a bit heavy Matt although I used 60-65# tapered with no problems with a 145gr.FP. I think the guys that were shooting the bow at the Quest found 45-50# to fly well so you should be close. Although I paper and bare shaft tune the quickest way I've found to see if I'm in the ballpark is to try one with a broadhead full lenght or as long as they are now and see what happens. You can always sand them a bit to bring down the spine if needed.Keep my posted.Love to see some pic's when you get her tuned

Matt Doc Springer and myself were shooting those Grizzly sticks out of it in Que'bec.I think those are 60-65 they shot great.I also think those had 165 grain tips mounted which may have taken the spine down nearer to 50-ish..great shooting bow PV...bd

D. I am not positive but I think Grizzly Stiks are 50#-80# I know that seems wierd but I think its because they are graphite. I chose them over Sitka's because I figured I could use them with my DH (55#) and my Griz (64#)

My kids got me a Rapula eletric AC DC fillet knife for fathers day last year.If were going to do some bigeyeing I will pack the new knife along.Makes short work of lots of fish.
Once again I will try and cut a deal on a 50# box of #1 giant king crab leggs for the feast one night.Last year the price of 50# of #1 king leggs and claws was almost the price of a good bear hunt.bd
