Pittsley Predator PICS and Opinions..Anyone?
« on: January 15, 2009, 09:04:00 PM »
Hey all,

I would like to see some pics from owners of Pittsley Predator recurves.  I haven't seen much about them, but what I have seen and read the owners seem to really like them and talk about how well they perform.
So if you have any pics or opinions on the Pittsley Predator how about posting them.  What do you think of them?

Thanks for the time and help.

Nala

I think you can do far worse than a Predator.  I like mine a bunch.  I have seen a variation in risers... grip circumferance,  mine is narrower and I love it,  some are thicker.. not so good for me.  Try it first if you can,

Nala, i had a predator hunter a few months back.  It is one of the best recurves I've ever shot, but i could'nt get use to the grip or the overall feel of the bow in my hand.  People like different things, as far as the way the bow shoots you cant beat it.  I would try it you may like the grip.

I had one a while back that was very fast and quiet. The grip makes it so your shooting the arrow almost right off your hand. Close to how Fred Bears grip/shelf used to be on his personal bows.
Just one more step please!

I just picked up a used Classic with 3 sets of limbs (42, 49 and 52#) and love it.  Fast, smooth and quiet.

I got the phenolic and rosewood with purpleheart stripe riser. Zebrawood limbs. Second time out with her I bagged a nice NJ buck on Jan. 7th, made my year.

I had one a few years ago and liked it alot. But like others have stated here the grip was too big for me.As far as performance they are second to none.I see they have a new longbow called the Phoenix,I'd like to try that one.Unfortunatly I tend to have long arms and shallow pockets.  :saywhat:

I just picked one up here, from another tradganger, about a month ago. I absolutely love it. Smoothest drawing bow I have ever shot. It's about 58# at my draw, and it shoots 615 grain arrows fast and hard. It's also a real nice looking bow, and the fit and finish is excellent. The grip is narrow at the top/throat, but has a significant palm swell, which makes it fairly wide at the bottom. I find it really comfortable.

Nala, just my opinion but the Predator is an excellent bow. I have 2 sets of limbs with mine. 62" 45#@28" and 58" 51#@28". The 62" limbs make the smoothest pulling bow I've ever had. The 58" limbs make probably the quickest bow I've shot in that range. This riser is East Indian Rosewood with Katalox. The 62" limbs are East Indian Rosewood.

The bow is so pretty I almost hate to take it in the woods. If I had to do it all over again I would probably just go with the standard Hunter model just so I would not be afraid of marking it up. At $499 I've not seen anything that can beat the Hunter model for price, quality, and shooting characteristics.

If anyone is interested I may be willing to sell or trade the 62" limbs. Send me a PM and we can talk. I'd love a pair of 58" or 60" limbs in the 45 - 48 pound range. 62" is just longer than I like for hunting.

Here is mine, I love this bow. I did wrap the grip with some rawhide as I hate a "slimey" grip moving around when I shoot. [/IMG]
