Just who collects arrows here....?
« on: January 17, 2009, 06:15:00 PM »
Well I've always liked the time spent on timber arrows and over the years I've added a few to my collection. Some have cost me $$ but that is not a bother and some I've just asked off people or traded one for one.

Here is a few pics some of the ones I have...

The first pic is of a signed Glenn St Charles hunting arrow that I bid and won on at the St Judes auction some years ago.

And here are some of the others I have. This is not all of 'em, just a snap shot as I was planning on doing a magazine article about collecting archery tackle.

Let see yours.

An incredible gift from Charlie Lamb, two arrows, one of which is broken. The broken one (I have both halves) is the kill arrow from this picture, and it all came with the story of the hunt. I am still speechless.

Quiver, bow and arrows from Barb Dumas:

An arrow I made for remembering Barb, which I gave to Muz Pinnecoose, over an arow made by Ferret and kindly sent to me:

From Dano:

From Rough Country:

This is not an arrow. It is the most finely crafted armguard that I have ever seen. The backside is lined with thin, soft leather. I don't know how many hours went into it, but I value it as though it took a month. Not just for the craftsmanship, but because of the respect I have for the man and the life he chose.

It was too long for my arm. (Shh! I never would tell him that!) One year at ATAR, Dano gave me a bow that he had made, and I gave him the thing I had with me that I valued the most (besides Barb's bow)...this armguard.

I am hoping that I kill something soon, so that I can send an arrow back to Charlie..
I gotta think of something to make for Robin, too.   :scared:

This is my most "priceless piece". It is a signed arrow from Ron La Clair that he used to take a turkey with. What a great fella he is. It hangs on my wall where it will stay for good.

Great looking arrows! I have some damascus broadheads that were made by a man in Montana. I want to make some arrows and put these on them. What did you use for the shafts on those Killie? We have a bush out here in Oregon called ocean spray that makes good shafts. But it is winter and I can't recognize it without it's leaves!

Uh, the shaft of the ONE arrow that I made and showed here, is made of ash. We don't have ocean spray here, but Allegheny Mountain had ash shafting.   :D

If you work on it, you will be able to tell the ocean spray, even in winter. Get your books and go for it!

Al:
I've collected arrow for many years, and like
Tom have many good ones. Some of my favorites are.
1.A kill arrow made and used by Chet Stevenson
2.An arrow made for a client by Howard Hill in 1938
3.An signed arrow made and used by Bob Wesley, when Howard was teaching him too shoot.
4.A target arrow made and used by Dr. Robert Elmer.
5.Several signed arrows of Glenn St. Charles
6.A "Sisty self repairing arrow. that's kinda neet.
7. One of Doug Easton's personal target arrows.
8. A laminated and unusal footed arrow made by I.W. King- who was a friend of Chet Stevenson's
That's just a few of the ones I can remember off the top of my head.
