hunting around Red River N.M.

my family and I will be at Red River the week starting March 8th for a spring break ski trip. I will not be skiing so is there any place to hunt near by? I see that a 4 day small game tag can be had and wonder if any public land is near by to the ski areas? any info will be of great help. I hope to chase bunnies but not the ones skiing down the slopes.

Try the Rio Grande gorge I used to see wild goats in there. Lots of public land there.
