Is Fletching Needed On A Fishing Arrow?

I bought mine used and it didn't come with fletching on it. Also do they need to be spined like normal arrows?
Thanks!

Bowfishing is usually at 10 yds or less...super heavy shafts need no fletching, usually the cheap rubber slide on fletch will give you poorer flight. The drag from the line helps keep the arrow strait.

What Leo said! Just make sure to use some safety slides, and have a ball!

what they all said, plus if you have the cheap rubber fletchings they will make the arrow plane way off track when they go underwater at speed, cut them off and go fishing

yup safety slides.
You'll see whey you start doing it. Those arrows are so long and heavy it makes those kind of things much less of an issue.

Boy do I miss bowfishing. Used to do it on the Willamette. Have to try it again. Really grew some outstanding gardens, especially the corn, with all those carp.

No you don't need fletch...
But as far as spine,if you're shooting in clear water where your shots can be deep, the closer your arrow is to the correct spine, the better off you'll be.
An arrow hitting the water straight is far better than an arrow hitting the water at an angle. The latter will start to plane immediately as it goes into the water, and will not be where you want it to be when it gets to the fish.
Getting a few arrows and bare shafting them is never a bad idea......
