Which do you guys perfer? 1pc. or 3pc take down recurve or longbow.

If given a choice I'd go for the 3 pc. It has more mass in the handle and is better on target. Also it travels well to alaska or around the world.

I agree with Mike, but I still prefer a one-piece. I just like the looks and feel a whole lot better. I seem to shoot my one-piece bows better as well. Shawn

Generically recurves can be shorter if all else is equal and long bows are quieter.
3 piece bows are heavier and 1 bows piece are lighter.

I prefer 3-pc. (recurve & longbow) because of more mass weight. But, I do have a Leon Stewart 1-pc., 66" that I wouldn't part with.... great shooter with ample mass weight for me.

I've been shooting both, but today I shot a new-to-me 3 pc. Pronghorn for the first time and it's the bow I've been looking for. I'll be selling most or all of my one-piece bows and getting an extra set of limbs for the Pronghorn. I'm keeping my 2 pc. McCullough as my back-up. They'll travel easy too.

I think it's good to have both! lol If you are going to travel or want to get different weight limbs you can with the TD. Then if you are hunting around your home area you've got the one piece.

For travelling on my hunts, I prefer the 3 pc T/D. For whitetails here in NJ, NY and CT...I love the one piece recurve and longbow.

Personally, I don't care for a heavy bow. That leaves me mostly with one piece longbows. I do like 50s style recurves, and the two piece takedown longbows.

I like two piece longbows and recurves with the limbs recessed into the riser (Borders, Widows, Habus, etc.). Just because of the lines/seamless look. If I didn't travel for hunting I might just go all one piece.

One-piece longbow or recurve gets my vote. I've always been a one-piece fan. Just don't like the looks of limbs bolted to risers. However, a PL Widow, now I like that. Just don't have one.

Have several of both and each has their strong points. I guess if you pinned me down I like TDs a bit better due to their versatility.

One piece are almost always lighter & more "alive" in my hand, and to me have better lines & are more pleasing to the eye.

TD's are handier and far more versatile. They are easy to travel with, nice & steady due to the extra weight, the bow isn't finished if you break a limb, and limbs of varying draw weights can be used on the same riser...

If you have to travel ovrsea, like I do, you only want TD, plus the versability of changing weight. If you brake something is just half the total cost

I like one piece bows best but TDs are so practical many times.I try and use two piece bows in longbows for a compramise.Still looks and handles like a one piece but with just a little more weight in the hand depending on the TD joint.For recurves which I don't hunt with as much I just use a 3 piece bow.

Longbows, I like one piece. Recurves, I prefer takedowns. I can shoot either if the grip fits me, neither if it doesn't.

What I need(errr want), is a takedown riser with a perfect grip that will take either recurve limbs or longbow limbs.
