Pete, Were a couple of those pics published somewhere? I'm sure I remember two of them. They are just as impressive the second time around. That's an impressive average dressed weight in that group!

most from mn, one from wi and i shot a nice one in western nd on an unguided hunt one yr.
Longbowben, thats a cool bow! he can hunt with me anyday. one day he is going to teach you a trick or two i bet!
Greg, a few of those bucks were in a book called "bowhunting's superbucks" a couple yrs back.  an outdoor writter contacted me, i had no interest at first but then figured it would be a good way to expose how effective traditional bows can be. we have a local outdoor writter who writes for some of the big name publications.  seems like the whole bowhunting circle up here cant stand the guy...he talks smack about anybody up here who shoots a big buck.

This is my first 100 incher, an exceptional buck for public land around me. Not a hog rack wise but he had a big body. Took my a long time to drag him to the car.  :D

Just one more step please!

I kinda hate to embarrass myself after seeing some of these monsters ! Congrats to all who have posted. And I will have to agree with Pete about guys like Gene & Barry Wensel and Roger Rothaar, I read and re-read their books and articles year after year. They have contributed so much to the world of traditional bowhunting and whitetails without being overcome by greed and gadgetry.

My best  “gross score” is just over 181 typical 12pt. My heaviest buck an 8pt field dressed 231 lbs.  These and a few other “keepers” are all great memories taken with homemade bows & arrows.

Pete

  on the bucks and        on the "rant".

I get pretty sick of some of Dad's "neighbors" in IA and the "kill 'em any way and put it on TV" mentality today.

Pete, holy cow!  I thought you were the same guy that used to be on stickbow.com.  Those bucks are absolutely amazing.  Are those farmland deer, or are you getting up in the big woods of MN?  You seem to be pretty modest.  You're definitely doing the right things.  Wanna give me some lessons?

i hunt mainly northern mn. i have hunted western ND 3 times and also northern wisconsin.  one yr i "cheated" and drew a spot in an urban hunt. the zone they put me in was a joke...too many guys, people sitting on your stand, ect.  we hunt 2000 acres of big woods. we let the little ones walk. if the timber wolves, snow/cold dont kill them they get big. my most serious scouting is now until spring. i set up on areas with a concentration of huge rubs....get as close to their bedroom as possible.
