Bear Kodiak Magnum restore
«

Hi Guys,
I received this afternoon a vintage Bear Kodiak Magnum but it is in bad condition.
The previous owner has varnished it if a non identified clear varnish but it is sticky at the touch . I started to sand it with sandpaper but I wont ruin the glass. What can I do to do a good job ????
Thank so much for your help

post this over on the history and collecting and you should get some response from droptine and the bowdoc

I'd try Maddog Archery. I have a Kodiak Magnum that I'll be sending to him shortly.

If you lightly sand with 180 grit, you can remove the old finish without getting into the glass too much. You can tell when you get through the finish. Just go slow and easy, especially on the edges of the limbs.
In the history forum there is an old thread where Bowdoc and Rich and others helped me through the exact same bow. I'll find it and bring it to the top for you.
