It depends upon the grip. Yes I do wind up with a shorter draw because my longbows all have small low grip designs and my recurves all have "medium wrist" grips.
I lose less length with a blocky Hill style grip-a style which I dislike.

Yes, about an inch but with a "D" shaped, Howard Hill, "real longbow" not a hybrid with a recurve riser etc.

Humm i didnt think about going from a high wrist to a low wrist that would change your draw lenght

I have an arrow marked to my usual draw length with the bow that I hunt with the most. I use it to check my form every once in a while by drawing in front of a mirror.

If I use it to verify other bows I shoot occasionally and/or use as spares, the draw lengths are rarely exactly identical.

In my case, it depends on the shape and thickness of the grip and the riser as well as what others have mentioned about the differences in hand/wrist position between recurves and longbows.

I use a straight wrist asbell grip when i shoot a recurve and I don't bend my elbow at all.  With my longbow I go heel down and put a slight bend in my elbow.  I lose almost a full inch when i make the transition.
