What is your Bowfishing rig?
« on: March 12, 2007, 01:20:00 PM »
I have never bowfished before, but am very curious about it. I would like to know what you guys use for your bowfishing set-ups. Thanks for your help.

Is there a good way to affix the reel to the bow if you don't have inserts to hold one? I've seen in 3 Rivers they have some kind of a strap arrangement but I don't know if there's another way to go as well.

     Thanks,

If your talking about a retriever rell, just screw it to the riser with a couple of screws. Of course I'm talking about a designated bow for bowfishing.

Rusty, I have had a lot of fun with the old tape-on reels.  They are basically just a spool that literally tapes to your riser.  I use electrical tape to mount them.  It works fine, but isn't as sexy as a retriever.

Ylee....

How did you get that bottle mounted on your grizzly?  I've got that part from my old compound and want to mount it on my recurve.

Here is my rig. 45lb. bow. Not even sure what brand of bow it is. It was all painted up when I got it from my dad. I use an AMS Retriever reel attached to the bow with the gadget adapter (which is the bracket with the big rubber bands) that Rusty in Fla. was asking about.  I think I got mine from Kustom King, but 3Rivers also has it. I use Muzzy carp point arrows with safety slides. Another month or two and it should be on up here in Michigan.

Sorry about the big pic.  I must not have shrunk it down quite enough.

Unfortunately a previous owner of my Grizzly had screwed a detachable quiver mount on the side of the bow, and the AMS Retriever is designed with several slotted holes so I was able to use the holes that were there to mount it. Of course you wouldn't want to do that with a nice bow, but where I bowfish, I wouldn't want a really nice bow anyway....it wouldn't stay that way very long...  :scared:    :biglaugh:
