Schafer One Piece?
« on: February 05, 2009, 06:59:00 PM »
Well I'm starting to save the funds for a new bow. I'm set on a schafer silver tip. I currently shoot a black widow one piece TF II, and love the simple clean lines. I was wondering if any of you guys have a one piece and would share some pictures. Any thoughts on how the one piece shoots compared to the schafer take down? My father has a take down thats a year old and I love it. It is one smooth shooting bow. Also, let me know if you prefer a 60" or 58". I know its personal preference, but whats yours? Thanks for the input.

I have owned 3 schafers and two were the one-piece. I prefer the one-piece over the T/D but I prefer one-piece bows anymore. The only difference I could tell was that the one-piece was quieter to me. Great bows, you will not be disappointed! Shawn

First off- I am very prejudiced- I prefer the lines on a 1 pc by far.Practicality of a td for travelling be danged. It's all about the lines for me- be it a boat, or a knife, or a piece of furniture. Few td's step up to the plate.
And given the above admission [I know I am going to tick some off here, so I apologize befor I offend]- to my eye, a one piece Silvertip is pure poetry, but a td Silvertip is just the opposite. I have looked at the 3 pc numerous times, and wondered why it is just so plain 'visually disappointing', when the one piece is so fine. Must be that time I hit my head on the curb when I was six........

I'll make my case for the one piece with a pic of three of mine, and leave the case for the td for someone much more broad minded than myself!

Foxtail, I'm curious, what are the wood combos on those one piece bows. I'm particularly fond of the second bow. All three are extremely beautiful.
I agree with you about the clean lines of a bow. When I pick my bow up to go hunting, there is just something about the simplicity and the way those one piece bows bend.

Gee, Foxtail, you're going to start a Silvertip Fan Civil War!

I have a three-piece, but I sure like the look of the one-piece, too!

Good luck, JGoemaat!

I personally really prefer one piece recurves and the one piece Silvertip is absolutely knock out gorgeous. This Cocobolo and Amarillo Beauty now belongs to a friend of mine.

Hi Sergio,
I'm down in Brantford, outside of Hamilton. That Tip of your friends is a true piece of eye candy! Do you have a larger pic of the riser- I have not seen one that had the curved accents befor, and must admit I did not know that this was an option. I'm about to order a Border Reiver, but now you got me thinking I should slap a deposit on a 4th tip. You're a bad influence!

JGoemaat- as for the wood in the center bow, the riser is walnut dymondwood I believe, but the limbs look to be a stained tiger maple. Just guessing though, as I bought the bow second hand, and am not really up on my woods.

I'm with you Rob, never seen the curved accents like that in a Silvertip. I have a take down that has a curved stripe but it's nothing like that. Beautiful.

Beautiful bows gentlemen!! I'd go with the one piece myself.

Seein' those one piece 'Tips makes me drool. Just in case anyone wants a T/D 'Tip instead of their one piece, I do have a T/D 'Tip for trade!  :)

There's MJB's. I was hoping he would grace us with it again. The best looking one I've ever seen IMO.
