The Beauty of both "Ice & Fire" in Cold Steel and Red Hot talent, with the precious warmth of deep friendship. Bless you Daniel and Sylvie. We have been exchanging a lot of e-mails and PMs for some time now, and part of the result of it all is a beautiful gift called "Spike", (A very special Throwing Knife), designed and hand-made by Daniel. Also a Beautiful sheath designed and hand-made by Sylvie. Though that is very big, an even bigger part is the friendship and understanding that has developed between me and these two fine folks from the far North. I feel the messages from both of them that accompanied the final pictures, and my answer, may help to sum it up. Following that will be the pics they sent me tonight before shipping Spike tomorrow.

Hello Bernie,

Both Sylvie and I are sitting here while I'm typing this message. Well, Spike is ready to come home and we just finished taking pictures of it for our files.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I am so happy to be able to thank you " in our own personal way" for all of the help you have provided me and Sylvie in my battle with alcoholism. The kind gestures, written words you sent us were heard loud and clear. Thank you Bernie Dunn, you are one heck of a good man.

Daniel

Hi Bernie, this is Sylvie. I would like to tell you that while designing and working on this very special sheath, you were always on my mind. The help you given Dan has greatly touched me and you also have taught me that even in the Internet world, one can have compassion and kindness for his fellow man. Your a very special man and I am very happy to have you as a part of our family.

Sylvie

Bless your hearts, both of you. While the knife and Sheath are so very special and will always hold a place of high eteem in my personal world, your e-mail means even more. Both of your comments give me far more credit than I deserve, I am sure. However, it certainly touches my heart and soul. If I have been even some small help in any way then, "Thank you, Lord," for guiding me in that way and giving me the appropriate words. Later, my dear friends - B

As you all may well imagine this ol' Hoss has something in his eyes and, for now at least, I will let Danial and Sylvie fill in any statistics and methods, etc. and/or answer questions - while I compose myself - as best I can.

Thanks, guys - when "Spike" gets here I will take pics wearing it, and throwing it - even if I goof up ("What, again?")

I hope you don't mind Bernie, I'm using "Spike Sheathed Pic" as my current desktop. The design for the sheath is something I've had in mind for if/when I can someday afford a Damascus blade. Who wants to cover up all that beautiful steel?

No problem there, I don't think, but you might touch base with Sylvie as that is her great design, and for the same reason - only in this case it is displaying a Mirror Finish blade.

Hey Bernie, why don't you fill everyone in on how long the beautiful beast is! I almost fell over when Daniel told me last night.

VTm, yep, it's a good thing that I got long legs, even though I'm short. The knife is 18" long - the sheath is 14" long with 4 3/4" devoted to the snap area. They say long, heavey knives throw best - if I just don't fall over backwards on the backswing   :D  .

Kenny, I would love to have the video of you tossing (might as well toss your hawk a couple times too while you're at it - no tossing your lunch on video though, OK?). I've got some other "throwing" knives that I mess with but I never knew how good they really were as opposed to how good (or bad) I am, so I don't know what to tell you about the "loaner". I think Spike is made out of stuff that is pretty well gonna stay like it is (a lot longer than I will -   ;)  ), and where I throw is surrounded by soft ground and thick carpet of leaves, so it may be fine. I do hit and stick - at least part of the time. In any case I'll be very pleased with the video and the loaner was a heck of a nice thought.

Thank you so much, Ken. I will enjoy it immensly and I'm sure I'll pick up some good pointers from it. Such a nice thing for you to take the time to do this. I'll have my eyes peeled for it. Daniel says he is tracking "Spike"'s travel progress and so far, so good. I really am anxious to see and hold it/them, as well as throw it.
