Andy Bob and Fred need to get on here and tell some tales!!!

Bjorn, we lifted that joker as high as we could- barely got those hooks over the top rail!!!

I am 5'11" tall in socks and I can stand up in that room with plenty of headroom to spare..its an ice cream truck body so you know that is one large pig.

and here are six dead hog-ulators..from 225 lbs or so to around 65 lbs.

They can tell the stories....but a good time was apparently had by all.

Just got done cutting and packing the meat.. out of freezer space (and we have 3).. rolled in around 6am.. only bad thing about Ray's place is the drive..

Anyways - we got in the pigs big time. Close to camp in a 5 year old pine patch that is a couple of hundred yards wide by 1 mile long.. pigs liked the shorter trees as the sun hit sooner.. Ray is the man. he knew where they would be..

I have nicknamed Bob Bartoshesky as the "Baconator" - the guy is hell on pigs!

Friday Bob got a couple of quick ones, Fred had good blood from a good hit on stand and I had a questionable hit.

Saturday am we quickly found both Freds pig and my pig. My pig grew a bit.. On Friday, I had headed towards the noise of some feeding pigs and crept in.. After 50 yards I saw a big pig feeding at 10 yards and then a black spot about 7 feet away. I couldn't tell if it was a rock or pig and the guys would never let me here the end of it if I let loose at a rock.. put the binocs on it and all and couldn't decide what it was.. then I saw an ear flicker.. The wind was quartering past me from my right shoulder but with a pig in front and one slightly to the right it was only a matter of time. Sure enough the laying down pig started to huff and I needed to clear a tree to make the shot.. I shot.. and thought the arrow went to far to the right.. Ray said later its hard to pick a spot on jet black - could be.. anyways they took off and I thought I blew the shot. But then I couldn't find the arrow.. It was getting dark and the temps were going to drop so I thought it better to wait until morning. When we went to search the next day we found the hog only ran about 50 yards.. and it was much B-I-G-G-E-R then I thought.. I had been so pissed about blowing a gimme that I didn't pay attention to the size when they ran off.

Saturday Matt found the hog while we were trailing blood and he was yelling it was a big one but I thought he was pulling my leg.. When we walked up on it it was huge.. Normally you pull them out before gutting but we needed to drop some weight before pulling it out..

Want to say Thanks to Ray and Matt for putting Fred in some great spots. Fred lost a leg in a motorcycle accident and can't navigate through muck on wooden leg (I did offer to spread peanut butter on it some the hogs would come to him    ;)    R/M put in the right place to get his first hog.

Thanks Ray for another great hunt!!

Andy's big hog

You are welcome, Andy. We had a great time with you guys.

We hit the weather just right this time..its been tough for the last two groups because it has been so uncharacteristically cold...

I think I remember you saying you took some pics of all that sign in those woods..if you have some, why don't you stick them in here for folks to see?

Who would have guessed the weather would be that nice.. lows in the high 20's and up to 60-70 degrees. I think the full moon hurt some but we were still in the pigs..

I didn't get any pictures.. found some places that were so torn up up it would take Cat D9 to re-landscape.. went to take some photos and found I'd left the camera at camp.

I should pipe in here and say a great big thanks to Ray and Matt.Being broke as I am I have a bit of a prob walking through the tangled mess Andy and Bob navigated in, that said, the dynamic duo of R/M put me into the little fellers. What a rush seeing 15 or 20 piggies come sneaking through the woods and then attacking a corn feeder spread. Like little vacuums, the sucking and grunting noises were awesome. Sitting at a stand like I was I had the opportunity to view several turkeys (from less then 12yrds!!), a couple of fox squirrels (gray with black faces) and more different birds than even I could count. The Armadillos in the woods, the squirrels, birds, turkeys and a good handful of friends, both old and new, made for a great trip. Again, a big thanks to Ray and Matt. With a little luck I'll have changed my shooting to left handed and I'll be able to get rid of that beast I have to shoot and will have better chances.

Fred,
When I was there, I saw one of the squirrels you mentioned. That was a sight for us Arkansas boys. Silver grey with black feet and mask. Really pretty. I saw one beautiful bobcat too. The seemingly small stuff makes the trip a pleasure. Glad yall had a good trip. Lin
