Hi,
I have been working on tuning my bow lately. It is a Zipper standard with D97, 45# at 28" and I draw a true AMO draw of 28.25". I would like to keep my arrows at not shorter than 30" due to broadhead clearance. I would also like to have a finished arrow weight of about 475 to 500 grains.
Here are my results.
Goldtips 3555 Traditional are too weak even when cut to 29.5" BOP and a 100 grain point, and standard insert. (Note: I can switch to a B50 string it the arrow shows slightly stiff, but I would like to shoot D97.)
Goldtip 5575 Expedition Hunters are too stiff when cut to 30.5" BOP and 175 grain tip with 100 grain brass insert.
Wood shafts, 11/32, 30" BOP 65-75# are weak with 125 grain point.
So, should I try the CX heritage 150s since they are in the middle of the two, or should I get new 5575 and try them cut longer?
Thanks so much for the help and the suggestions.
Kevin
NOTE: Correction to above information. I thought the 3555 arrows had standard inserts, but they actually had weights screwed into the backs of them, making them 50 grain inserts. I am now shooting the standard inserts, and 100 grain points the arrows now tune well, but they are still too short and too light.
