How loud / quiet is your bow?

I had 8 does come up to me and only one was close enough for a shot. I missed but the other 7 deer didn't seem to know anything was up even though they were less than 30 yards away.

Last weekend my wife shot this video and tonight I actually listened to how quite my bow is. No wonder they didn't hear the shot.

The loud pop you hear after the shot is my arrow going through my worn out hay bale and hitting the sheet of plywood I have leaning against the shed wall. Told my daughter 3 haybales would be a fine present for the old man.

What does your bow sound like?

I can't hear your bow because of those dang birds are too loud!! :D I guess thats a good thing.

This is my Crow Creek Black Feather that I got about a month ago. 52 @28 and the arrow is about 540 gr with the head.

I knew black bird sounds would not spook deer and it took a few attempts to get my bow to sound like a flock of blackbirds. Since it is a blackfeather it wasn't too hard.

Wonder if I can tune it to sound like a turkey for spring?

I'm new at this, but I installed my Otter silencers and it was pretty quiet. A few days later a buddy suggested messing with the brace height to find the sweet spot. For my bow, 7.75" is great and just that .25" move quited it down a bit too. It's pretty darn silent now.

I shoot a Big River longbow that is 60# @ 31" draw. I installed two small wooI silencers and shoot laminated birch arrows that weigh 760 grains. All I hear is the noise slipping out of my fingers at release. It is deadly quiet.

My bow is so quiet that I've missed the same deer at 8 yds twice without it moving.

Did I mention it was a Texas whitetail.

Actually my second shot cut fletching off of my first. Good group, wrong spot.

Very quiet. Seems to be no string noise at all. May be a little noise from the arrow hitting the arrow plate at release. Do you have a hard piece of material there? Regardless, very quiet.

I have soft velcro for the striker plate and arrow rest and they are both kind of small. Just looked at it and I don't see where any arrow to wood contact is being made.

I'd kind of like to see videos of others shooting so I can hear how their bows sound compared to mine.

Sounds good to me, I have a couple that sound like that, one of them is a Mahaska longbow, the other is a Dryad Windtalker bow blank. Both are the same # as yours.

Experimented with a feather rest. Now all my bows have one plus spiderlegs in the strings. Unbelieveably quiet.

Wish I could get my Shrew that quiet. I haven't given up yet but I haven't found the key yet. One question I have is this, why do people in the videos always shoot their arrows like they are on fire? Do they have to shoot that fast?

I don't know about others but with me I look at the spot I want to hit and as soon as I touch anchor the arrow is gone automatically. I don't hold and conciously say to myself "release now."

I could hold at full draw longer but I don't think it would accomplish anything for me. If I were gap shooting or using a sight I could see the benefit.
