Who made this bow??? Big East??
«
on:

I purchased this bow around 9 years ago at a sportsman show from J & M Traditions. Now for the life of me I can not remember the bowyer, it is only marked with the poundage and a serial 7 digit number. Can anyone tell me how made it? I do remember the limbs are gray dyed ash and I believe the riser is also. It came with thumb screw and I replaced them with regular limb screws.
Thanks,
James

I don't think it is a brackenbury. I will post some more pics later. But from looking at pics of the bracks, it is not the same. On the brack the belly of the risers are more radiused and the top limb is sulpted in the sight window. On this one both limbs have square butts. The limb tips on this bow are also small.
Thanks,
James

Real similar to a ChekMate Sabre (check Chad's page at recurves.com). It is a bit more "rounded", but that could be a result of the grip/wrist style.......just a guess

The riser of this bow has lines very simular to a Fedora, so I called them. They are looking at the photos for me. But from our conversion, this bow is most likely a Big East. I bought it from J&M Traditions and Jim was a deal for Big East. I also remember Jim saying something about Mike son. Any Big East guys around here?

Gene Charboneau might be able to help you out with that. I've never seen a Big East so plain, usually they're fancy woods.

Most, if not all, Big Easts had a thumb rest and the woods were "sexier".

I have to say the limb tips and the riser in general resemble those on my Big East. The only thing missing is the thumb rest. I assume Mike Jr. probably would have made some plain models and who knows maybe he didn't always add the thumb rest? I agree Gene Charbonneau would be the guy who would possibly know the answer.

To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

Looks like a mass produced bow, like you'd buy from Cabellas or bass pro shop...good luck

I just looked at some of the pics of Dans bow and the thumb screwyou have are the same as the ones that came with my bow. Also the riser is laminated in a simular fachion to most of the Big East bows. I know for sure this bow is not a production bow. Everything is pointing to Big East, guess I will have to wait and see how Fedora and Jim from J&M responde. But it is all fitting together now. Another fact is J&M is located in PA and I bought the bow at a show in PA.
Thanks,
James

I have a all ash Big East TD that looks like your bow but my bow has the thumb rest. My bow is also marked with only the draw weight(I believe). I thought it was a Fedora TD and I ran into Jason Fedora at the Sawmill shoot and he told me it was one of his brother's bow (Big East). I'll see if I can get a few pic's of my bow on this thread in the next couple days and we can go from there. My bow shoots like a rocket launcher...
