question for black widow longbow owners
« on: February 12, 2009, 09:02:00 PM »
I am in the process of ordering a widow longbow and am trying to figure out if i want the quiver mounts installed for a bolt on quiver, or if i should go for the strap on quiver, any thoughts would be great.

Boone,
I have a PLV and just recently bought an Eagles Flight 3 arrow strap on, (I usually use a side quiver.)
It works fine and I think it is a personal choice if you want holes drilled and brass inserts in your bow or not.
I can't do that to any bow! LOL
I honestly don't know if performance is affected by drilled quiver mounts or not, I would guess they won't harm performance, just appearance.

I've got 'em in my Widow Recurves but not in my Widow longbows. Like Sendero25 I went with the Eagle's Flight quiver.

I went with the strap on for my PLX... Somethign about putting a hole in the slim riser of a longbow, I don't like... Probably wouldn't hurt it, but if you ever decided to shoot without a quiver, you still have holes.. I'd go strap on.. ... YOur call!!!
Blessings,
Steve

Strap-on or slide-on have worked for me. It's a personal thing - the bolt-on ones would work just as well - but I just don't like the idea of holes made in my bows.

Checkout Zipper's wood strap-on.Bill can make it in the same wood as your bow to match up.

I enjoy my BW longbows very much. I've always used strap on quivers and had good success with them. especially thunderhorn quivers. The boa and mini boa are my favorites. i even get a black widow spider on the hood. the quivers hold great. tim.

Another voice against the quiver mounts. I have a PL III and I just ordered a PLX, and I am with the other guys, a slim riser and if you ever wanted to go away from the bow quiver... I use a Great Northern Strap on and I am considering purchasing one of those Kanati quivers. More food for thought.

I like the strap quiver Ron LaClair sells it holds 4 and another model holds 6 and in 2 colors leathers...Plus eagles flight would be perfect for me...more arrows the better.. :)Its called the Mantis

I would not get the holes drilled.Just something that could be a potential problem down the road and I had a problem with them on one bow with cracks developing around the inserts. The bow looks better without them too.I like the Eagles flight as well with Talon grip straps.Very light and solid on the bow for me.

I also like the Boa Thunderhorn Lynx small fry alot becuase the arrows are angled back when mounted on bow.Its a feature you dont get on Most quivers.Kanati has one as well with the same concept.I prefer it.

with these 2 quivers I pretty much got all the bases covered for any bow I have.I use both exclusively.
