And curiosity is  enough Mr buckhuck...very interesting to me to see which bows, on average, shoot the fastest. Enjoying the thread.

With a 28" cedar arrow and a 125 grain field point my 60# Martin Vision was shooting 207 FPS. I'd rather shoot my 50#er though. It's much more relaxing and the speed doesn't appear to be all that slow but I've never measured it.

The fastest I have SEEN one shoot was something over 200fps (can't remember exactly, not over 210), but this was an Olympic style bow shooting ACE arrows designed for 90m shooting.  I have heard of guys shooting metal bows over 230 w/ very light arrows (6gpp or so).

Seems to me that a lot of chronographs(sp) out there that need recalibration. Not saying that anyone is lying, just seems some of the speeds some are reporting are not realistic.

What say you OL ?????????

A Jim Fetrow fiberglass longbow, 70#@30" shooting a 700 grain birch arrow over 190.  I can honestly say I don't think anything (bone or flesh) in North America would have would have stopped that arrow.  The bow had nearly 6" of reflex and 68" long with glass running continuously the entire length on both the back and belly of the bow.
