The FF option consists of 2 extra accent stripes in the riser and the limb tips are built up thicker than the dacron Silvertips.

Dave prefers to use Dymondwood risers for his FF bows and offers a standard 1 year full and 2 year prorated warantee on them.

Contrary to what the website states Dave will make a FF riser out of exotic woods BUT he will NOT warantee the bow.

Just got in a Silvertip TD for try-out.  I will try to post some pics if I can.  Plan to shoot it some over the weekend and compare it to my Chastain Recurve.

See if this works...

Ghostman, I think Dave will waranty the limbs but not the riser on an exotic FF.

The FF strings do not stretch and put more energy into the arrow. It is also tough on the bow. The upside is a little more speed and less shock on release. The downside is it rougher on the bow and strings or string material cost a little more.

A4C,

Yes, it is FF.  60 inches. 52# @ 28 inches.

It draws smooth, but I could not learn much shooting it at 7 yards in my garage.  I will take it out to the target range and stretch its legs on Saturday.

Does anyone have experience with the 60 inch bow that is the 58 inch riser with the long limbs?  Just curious how it would compare to the normal 60 inch combination.

Keith--I'm pretty sure Dave uses the Bear Weather Rest

Brett;
Thats a beautiful looking Bow!! Please let us know how it shoots for you once you've had time to put it thru it's paces!?

Keith; I also believe that Dave uses a Bear weather rest. However I stand corrected on the arrow size he uses, i thought that he uses 2018's, but he corrected me the other day and it's 2020's.

Shot the Demo Bow at the range today.  It is blistering fast compared to other bows I have shot, but it does seem pretty loud to me.  I was shooting 600 grain 2117's out of what was probably 55lb draw.  Arrow flight was good (not perfect), but the noise factor distracted me a bit.  Wish I had a chronograph, but for now I will just say that the arrow speed is "very fast" according to my speed checker (eyeballs).

The grip is not checkered, but it still feels very good.  I would opt for a high wrist if I order one, but that is just my preference.

The finish and worksmanship of this bow are better than any other I have seen, and I have seen a lot.  I cannot get over how heavy that dymondwood is.  Makes for a very stable shooting bow.

Tomorrow I plan to shoot a 3-D round with it.

The brace height is 7 1/4 inches and the sting only has one small set of rubber silencers, about 8 inches from the serving on both ends.

Do you guys like woolie whispers, that is what I use on my other bows.

This one just has the sting the way it was set up when I got it.

Brett, try 7.5 BH. I use a tarntula type fleece silencer I cut from old fleece. I put them about 13" from each tip and it dead quite.

Brett, the best silencer (by a LONG shot) I've used (I've tried woolie whispers, string leeches, cat whiskers) is the Qivuit musk ox ones from 3rivers.

Brett, I think the BH is too low. If memory serves me Dave recommends 7 1/2 to 7 3/4. I shoot my "tip" at 8" with Bow Hush approx 12" from the string loops and its is "dead" quiet. Fred

I shoot my Silvertip at 7 3/4 and seems to quiet it down pretty well.  I just use the basic cheap rubber cat whiskers, and don't have a noise problem.

at 25 pages I cant remember if I posted here or not  :)

I've shot a lot of bows, buying, selling and trading. I've had a Silvertip and a non-FF one too, and the one FF I had was a shooting Son of a Gun, best shooting recurve in my hands I've ever had I think.

I'll have another some day too

Set your brace height at 8"...its the sweet spot. You should have NO noise when silenced and braced correctly...just a subtle "THUUMP"...then it's LIGHTS OUT!  :bigsmyl:
