who's kind enough to start a 'pass it on'
« on: February 20, 2009, 02:16:00 PM »
my wife wants to start shooting with me. but we can't spare the money at the moment to buy her a bow. i was wondering if anyone has something around 25 to 30# laying around gathering dust that they no longer need, that i could get her started on. this bow would be passed on to someone else in a similar pickle when we're finished. she'll either say i want my own bow or shooting isn't my thing. either way it will get passed on to the next person in need.
it certainly doesn't need to be anything fancy, heck an old fibreglass bow would do the job.

i guess an old takedown of some sort would be easier for people to forward on.

any kind hearted souls out there who want to start a 'pass it on'?

bretto you must have posted while i was posting. that sounds good too. i guess being a t/d it will be easier for people to pass on. besides we are sort of living in hotels and our car at the moment so a t/d would be easier to for us to accommodate.   :clapper:  tradgangers rule

Ozy,

If you can work in Canada, I would get in your car and travel to Alberta.  The job market here is still pretty good and not that far of a jaunt for you.

Congrats on the bow for your wife.

i applied for about 12 jobs in alberta but nothing came of it. edmonton, calgary, medicine hat, pincher ck. maybe employers are hiring canadians over foreigners in these times. fair enough too. the main reason we haven't moved to alberta is that our car insurance would have to be changed to an alberta company. as well as our drivers licence. insurance here works nothing like it does in aussie. to move province here you would think your migrating to another country! all the red tape was hard enough to cut through without having to do it all over again. a local here told me that if you move to B.C. Bring Cash. B.C... Bring Cash, get it. LOL. he was right! i think he was from alberta!  :)

Nothing says you can't drive out here for a week or two trip and do some applying in person.  Just a thought for you.  Good luck in your search.

Whatever bow you choose is fine with me......the Grizz would be 20-22# @ 24".
Sounds like the takedown is a better choice for your current lifestyle. Good luck up there!

bretto has kindly offered a recurve for this pass around. being a take down it's probably the easiest option for people to send in the future. thanks also to bjorn for offering a bow.
i'm sure my wife will be pleased to get into it properly now. i'm sure she'll enjoy it enough to pester me for a bow of her own. when that happens this bow will be posted here so it can go to someone else thus helpng someone else get into this great sport.

tradgang is truly a great place. keep your eyes peeled for some pics of my wife enjoying her starter bow.    :campfire:      :archer:

Bjorn...the wife would like to shoot with me...would you be interested in selling your grizz?  Or could I take part in the pass around as well?
