Bateman tabs and string keeper
«

On the BAteman site, it says the tab has an elastic piece on the back. How long will this last? And....do you guys change the elastic to something else?
(Yes...I'm a novice....never shot a tab)
Also....I'll gladly buy these items from a board sponsor if someone will point me in the right direction.
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff look into the sponsors links page, pretty good stuff in there!

Ya know I just cut my tabs from a smooth piece of leather. I picked the leather up from Tandy for $5.00 and got about 8 tabs from it. I kinda customized my own that works really well. I shoot 3 under!

Jeff, I have a bateman tab with the elastic. I can't remember how long I have been shooting it. I remember I had it on my first elk hunt in Idaho with Wingnut. I think that was 7 or 8 yrs ago. For the dollars spent I would not worry about it. if ya find a tab you like buy 2 or 3 if the budget will let you. Ya have to break in a tab a little bit. On big hunts I take three shot in strings (i am hard on strings) and three shot in tabs. if ya shoot a leather tab they can get wet in the rain and don't shoot the same (same with gloves). that way ya can always have a dry one.
if ya just have one and the elastic were to break ya can use a shoe string or leather tong with a pressure spring gripper annndddd just because a tab comes the way it does from the manufacture don't mean ya can't modify it take make it work better for ya.

I have two of their 3 under Cordovan tabs. Probably close to 10,000 shots on one and maybe 5,000 on the other. They both look new except for the sweat stains on the back.

I have a split finger Bateman that's about 2.5 years old, and a couple of newer ones, including a 3-under tab. The elastic on the older one is still in just as good of condition as the newer ones. It looks pretty easy to replace if you need or want to do it.

You can get the elastic if you need to replace it at any sewing material shop.

My favorite tab of all was the Neet ring tab which they (of course) quit making. I remove the elastic from the batemans and rivit a strip of leather and O ring in place and make a ring tab. No problems with the elastic like they are I just like the ring better.

I like the Bateman cordovan tab with the single finger hole over the one with elastic, just a personal preference.I've been shooting the same tab for the last 4 years.

I've been using a Bateman for about 2 years now, no problem with the elastic.

You can order them from 3 Rivers, they have a cordovan split finger with a finger spacer, and a 3 under cordovan one they offer. I can't remember off hand if they say Bateman on the website or catalog, but the packages do. I've shot both, I've used the split finger one for 2 years now, no complaints. Still in great shape for it. Just now working on the 3 under, but it's top-notch too.
