New Firefly
« on: February 23, 2009, 06:15:00 AM »
Just ordered a new Firefly with extra set of limbs.
40@28,3/4" and 55@28,3/4" with the riser in Bocote and Kingwood with Yellowheart/Maple accents and waterfall bubinga limbs with actionboo core    :bigsmyl:
The service and follow up i`ve got from Jim is excellent.
Have any of you fellow bowhunters measured speed thru a chrono with these excellent bows?
And maybe some experience with Firefly bows to share?

Everyone I know is getting the Firefly bug. Started out with Drew,,then me and now Tim Fishell I know Kevin wants one,,LOL,, Steve will get bit too I'm sure,Outstanding bow,,I'm a better shot with my firefly than with anything I've ever shot. Th fit of the bow is what does it for me, I think.  :saywhat:  I neew to order a new set of limbs for it though,JB

My plan is to order one also, they are great bows and you wont find a better guy to deal with.

The grip Doesn't compare to anything. They are a normal grip, I guess I could say that, He didn't go and try to reinvent the grip of the bow.Very classic. Slightly lower wrist style with a nice locator in the throat. Arrow sits close to your hand,,

Today i`m shooting a homemade selfbow 35@28", an Bear Patriot Byron Fergusen 50@28" and a E-bagen (Swedish longbow) 40@29"
But think the Patriot is a little to stiff when i`m pulling the string. So i`m looking for something smooth, stable and quiet and think the Firefly might be it:)
Do anybody have some pics of Fireflys to share?

We may have to change the name of Buck Jam to the Firefly Camp or something like that.  Since my old man picked that one up at the Bunny Stomp if Steve got one Kevin would be the only one left without one!!!

Tim & Drew,
Can you tell me what the final spray is on your bows, satin, gloss, semi gloss. I have one Jim is making for me and not sure what would look the best to bring out the grain, its a bubinga that looks like birds eye maple but dark..  , I've already called Jim once and changed it....Thanks for your help, Bill

Jim can do any finish you want.  My original Firefly is glossy, the one I just got is more medium, like a Satin finish which is what I asked for.  And he can also do the Hunter's non-glare, which is almost flat.

The Fireflies are addictive that's for sure.  I'm a "man of few bows" and I've already got two, and of course I'm going to have to have a "Route 66" don't you know!  :D

I just took mine out of the box and it is more of a non glare finish so I am sure it is the same as Drew's.
