SAmick has made massive improvements in it's traditional line in the past year or 2. They have partnered up with a US company to get a real life idea of what US tradiitional archers want. I've seen a few prototypes that will be released this year that are really top notch bows.

I have a Samick Woodsman that is very nice. Looks good, is dead in the hand and shoots where I look. I was pleasantly surprised with its good looks and good performance when I got it. It is very smooth to my 28" draw.

Funny you started this thread since yesterday I followed a group that had a guy shooting one of the BW style Samicks. I watched that guy shoot maybe 15 targets and never miss a 10 ring. you couldnt hear the bow either. I would have been impressed if the guy had been shooting a $1000 custom.

As Jaeger says they are getting better than they were on refining things and finish work.

It took me awhile but I bought a samick (the widow look alike) a Widow Ma ll and a Habu cs3 all exactly the same weight and did a crono test. There wasn't 1 ft per second difference between the 3. I shot each 8 times. I was kind of surprised. The wood in the Samick is lighter than the others esp.. the Habu. Therefore the Habu felt the best to me. I added some weight to the Samick and it felt great. No accuracy difference for me either. I don't use any of them now because of my infatuation with longbows. But Being I shot a widow for 12 yrs I was always very curious about performance of these 3. Btw someone said they had a samick limb blow up. I had a Widow limb blow up.  Have seen many other custom bows blow up.

bought one for my nephew several years ago, he is still shooting it and loves it.  I have shoot it a few times and it shoots great.  Almost became a dealer for them, plans kinda fell through, maybe someday I will get bck to that project.

Good form and a well tuned bow and the price you paid for it wont much matter.

I had a Hawkeye(the BW copy) and was pleased with the bow- very good for the money.
But the widow is in every thing an archer expect from a bow a little better.
Speed: Widow 4 fps faster
Smoothness:The Hawkeye with 45/28 pulls like my widow with 53/28
Handshock: I never realized the handshock from the samick, but I did after I shot the Widow the first time.
The Samick seamed to be a little quiter.

The Volcano is a fine bow. I had one for a year or so and it was a very good performer and very nice to look at.

I have a Samik Woodsman bought off the classifieds on TradGang for $145 to take on a Hawaii trip. If the airline luggage gorillas ding it, I don't care.

After shooting longbows it felt like a 2X4 in my hand but I adjusted. For me it shoots smooth and doesn't stack. It's a 60# and I'm seriously thinking about buying a lighter set of limbs for it.

Ozy Clint, that is the pig I was thinking of when a picked my screen name. One of these days I will get one like it. Not many pigs in the Adirondacks but sometime I will get back home to Oz and go pig hunting.
