Matthews first stump outing with dad.
« on: March 05, 2009, 02:29:00 PM »
I was so lucky today to be able to be with my son as we ventured out into the wild state ground in the mid Michigan area.
We started right from the truck seeing deer.

So I sent matt right out there to figure out what they are doing.

When we arrived back there they had been browsing on the buds on the bushes and trees.
we found a good stump to shoot at though so we took a few shots.

Matt is still looking to see where those deer slipped off to.

That boy has drive thats for sure!! Good for you Jason. Matt is always wanting to shoot "one more arrow".

That is awesome buddy!!  Matt is growing like a weed and I cant wait to go out shooting with him or until he is old enough to be up at deer camp with us.  That property looks familiar...is that the turkey hot spot we stump shot last year?

Naahh,, This is about 25 miles north of that property, I've had real good luck deer hunting here though,,great land and by the looks of all the deer sign Matt and I seen I think I'll be there next fall. If anyone ever wanted to hunt MI on a budget they can get ahold of me and I could get them into some really nice areas for deer or turkey.,JB

OK,,we come across some of these feeding in the feild,,So we get closer bit by bit,,the wind is perfect,,the wind just enough to cover our sounds,,so I close in with Matt infront of me,,trying to teach the boy how to watch the animal,,Move when their head is down,,stay still when they look up,, It all went perfect and we got within 100 yrds of these fine Michigan creatures and we sit and just watch them feed on the new green that is starting to pop up. I  Really felt blessed to sit there with my boy and watch some deer,,we watched for about 20 mins. or so and I ask him if he would want to sneek up to them,,LOL,, he grins from ear to ear and is ready to go.
These are the pics as we closed in to get closer..

A little closer

This is as far as we are going to get. without them seein us,,
