Thunderstick Mag and MOAB comments
« on: March 05, 2009, 04:20:00 PM »
Who has or has shot the mag and  MOAB, and what do you think of them?  How quiet, fast, stable, and smooth on the draw are they?  Are the grips on these two the same?

I have 2 MOAB's that I love. I can't say enough about them, awesome bow. If you search MOAB on here, you'll find a lot of threads talking about them.

My 16 yr old son shoots a 49# Mag, and its a sweet shooting bow. Fast shooting, quiet and easy to shoot. For myself, I prefer a little longer, but he loves it and shoots it well. Both are great shooting bows. I will say that the Mag is a great treestand bow, with its shorter length. For a shorter bow, it preforms as well as the longer models. If you can get a chance to shoot them both, I guess that would be the deciding factor.

Thanks for the input so far.  I will have to do some searches.  I searched the classified and got a lot of wanted and no for sales.  Figured that said something if anyone actually has one they don't sell or trade them much.

All I know is my buddy shot his new-to-him MOAB this weekend at a 3D shoot and put on a show. We all think his Widow longbows are now on the endangered list.

What would be the difference between a 60" Mag. and a 60" MOAB?? Are they built on the same form?

I had a 60" MOAB for a while and it was a great bow.

I had a little trouble with my MOAB until I put the brace height up to 8". I think most people have them at 6 3/4 to 7". It now is a very good shooter. Hap

I have a T Mag and it is a slick shooting little bow.  No hand shock.  None, zero, nada, zip.

My brother has a MOAB.  There is a difference in the limb profile and grip.

My eyeball tells me his MOAB shoots a tiny bit quicker than the T Mag, for what that's worth.

I have a TS Mag that is almost an identical twin to BUCKY's bow. Mine is 56" 45#s. It shoots very quietly and zips my arrows pretty fast. I've never chrono'ed mine to see just what speed it shoots but it's fast. It draws very smooth and there is no hand shock when I shoot it. I like the way the handle fits my hand too. The Mag is a great bow and worth the money too.

How do the grips vary?  The MOAB looks to have maybe a neutral wrist.  Does the Mag have more of a straight LB grip?

How long a draw can you get from the mag before it starts to stack?

I've owned both and even though the MOAB "may" be faster, I thing the Mag is quieter and smoother. Jim can make a grip to your liking since my Mag had a recurve grip. Either way, both bows are great.

Love my Mag, don't have any experience with the MOAB.
